Impact of COVID-19 on Branch Events

Given the evolving COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Ottawa Branch is advising on the impact that this will have on our events moving forward.

Glengarry Cup – Postponed until September 26th

As indicated at the last Knockout, we were looking at rescheduling this event from the originally planned date of April 4th. We now plan to host the Glengarry Cup on Saturday, September 26th, 2020. More details will be shared when available.

PDQB Examinations – April 25th/26th

It is too early to determine if PDQB examinations scheduled for pipers on April 25th/26th will be impacted. Candidates have already been contacted about next steps and they will be notified about the status of this in the near future.

Indoor Games – May 9th

As of today, the Indoor Games will proceed as planned, and we encourage you to register online for your events. Should the event not be able to proceed as planned, we will let you know. The deadline to register is April 25th.

Fred Morrison Concert – May 12th

The Fred Morrison show is still scheduled for May 12th. More information about the event can be found here. All individuals who purchased tickets will receive a refund if a decision not to proceed is made.

We know that a number of area bands are drawing down practices for the coming weeks, as it goes without saying that a pipe band practice environment constitutes close quarters where social distancing is not possible, and droplets can transfer easily. A recent pipes|drums article provides some helpful considerations in this respect.

Lastly, during this difficult situation, please feel free to use the Ottawa Branch Community Forum on Facebook as a way to stay connected.
