Happy New Year!
Thank you to all that joined us for the first Branch event of 2017 on January 7th at the HMCS Bytown Naval Officers Mess. B division pipers competed in a 2/4 March contest, while 40+ pipers played in a Slow Air, 6/8 March event.
Both events were judged by Alan Clark, who provided a great recital afterward.

February 4th Knockout – Canadian Content Contest
The largest Knockout event of the year will take place on February 4th, featuring A Piping, B Piping, and all drumming categories.
The evening will include the popular Canadian Content contest for A pipers, with competitors asked to submit a Hornpipe/Jig. Other events include B Piping Mini-MSR (2 parts each tune), A Drumming MSR, and B Drumming Jig.
When: February 4th. Note: Given the larger number of events and competitors, contests will begin at 6:00 pm, beginning with drumming
Where: HMCS Bytown Naval Officers’ Mess, 78 Lisgar St. in downtown Ottawa

Ottawa Branch Indoor Games – April 29th
This year’s Ottawa Branch Indoor Games will take place on Saturday, April 29th at St. Michael Catholic High School in Kemptville. Registration forms and other information can be found here.

New Leadership for the RCMP Pipes, Drums and Dancers

“As many know, Pipe Major Graeme Ogilvie has decided to step aside from his role with the RCMP Pipes, Drums and Dancers after over fifteen years of service to our band and the RCMP. As his replacement we would like to introduce Pipe Major Douglas MacLeod, RCMP Pipes, Drums and Dancers National Division. Pipe Major MacLeod has an extraordinary background, as a piper, a pipe major and a senior military officer. The band will continue to be in exceptional hands. Pipe Major Ogilvie will continue to play with the band and we thank him for his steadfast leadership. We are pleased to welcome our new Pipe Major to the RCMP Pipes, Drums and Dancers family.”
