Fall/Winter 2020-21: Marking fifty years for the Ottawa Branch
The upcomng 2020-21 season is the 50th anniversary of the Ottawa Branch. Despite the uncertainty surrounding everything these days, we still plan to mark this milestone as best we can!
Glengarry Cup: Online professional contest
We are going to kick things off with an online (video submission) version of the Glengarry Cup. While an in-person event is of course preferable, we are optimistic that an online format will provide professional pipers from outside our region with the opportunity to compete for this prize. Whereas the contest has been invitational in previous years, it will be open to all interested professionals this year. Video submissions will be due in early October, and more details will follow.
Knockout series to be held online
We will hold a Knockout series, featuring categories and requirements comparable to previous years, but this will also be done via video submission. The nature of our downtown venue, coupled with the uncertainty over what will be possible for in-person events in any form throughout this fall and winter is such that an online series is the best way to guarantee a level playing field for all. More details will be made available in the coming weeks.
The timing of the Glengarry Cup is such that we will start the Knockouts later than in previous years (late October as opposed to late September).
History series featuring articles and stories of piping and drumming community members and organizations
Past President Graeme Ogilvie is spearheading a history series compiling articles and stories from Branch archives over the years. Stay tuned as we seek contributions, and debut content on a forthcoming new Branch website.

On August 1st the Glengarry Pipe band is offering Piper Grams! You can request a piper, piper and drummer, or piper and dancer to deliver a message and play a few tunes. Covid-19 may keep us separate for now, but it can’t stop the music! Contact the Glengarry Pipe Band for a Piper Gram for you, friends, and family!
