Jack Gauthier of Ottawa has passed away at the age of 86.
Jack served in the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence from 1948 to 1994. He first began piping with the Nova Scotia Highlanders regiment when he was a teenager. In Ottawa, Jack played with the RCAF Station Rockliffe Pipes and Drums (now the Royal Canadian Air Force Pipes and Drums), from which he retired after 58 years in 2008.
Jack was also a longtime member of the Ottawa Police Service Pipe Band, having served as manager of the band for several decades.
