Sounds of Scotland

On Saturday, April 27th, why not head into downtown Ottawa for a grand afternoon fundraising concert entitled “Sounds of Scotland”. The event will include a sneak peak of some of this capital’s best and brightest pipers, drummers and dancers, as the Ottawa Police Grade 2 Pipe Band, current Ontario Champions Supreme, give a preview of their competition sets to be played at the World Championships in Glasgow this summer. Under the direction of former Northern Meeting Gold Medallist Pipe Major Andrew Hayes, the Band will play medleys and some more traditional tunes while the Police Highland Dancers, under the direction of Erin Mansfield, provide visual delight to this music in dance. The concert is a fundraiser for the world travelled Christ Church Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys, under the direction of renowned organist and director, Matthew Larkin, who are touring Scotland and England this summer and singing in St Paul’s Cathedral as well as others as a special guest choir. Hosted by well-known baritone Garth Hampson, who will also sing, the event will include a taste and toast to the Haggis, with a finale of massed band with organ and choir. The 2 pm event will take place at Christ Church Cathedral located at 439 Queen Street in Ottawa. Tickets are $20 per person or $30 per family, and are available as follows:

Christ Church Cathedral 613-236-9149 ext. 12 or ottawacathedralchoir@gmail.com
