The Branch executive is looking for a few volunteers to help with stewarding at Knockout competitions through the fall and winter. Stewards help keep competitors informed and ensure that contests run as efficiently as possible.
For high school students interested in helping out, we are able to offer volunteer credits.
If you are interested, please contact Vice President Ron Graham (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The first Knockout is coming up on September 23rd. As mentioned in the previous Branch post on August 28th, the draw for the first Knockout will be in reverse order of registration. Sign up early to secure a later draw!
Arnprior McNab Recruiting
A message from Arnprior McNab Pipes and Drums:
“The Grade 3 Arnprior McNab Pipes and Drums (AMPD) is searching for an experienced Grade 1 or 2 snare drummer to lead its drum corps immediately. The band finished this season as Eastern Ontario Champion Supreme and its drum corps finished second overall at the North American Championships. The incumbent Lead, Scott Forrest, has taken the difficult decision to vacate the position after 3 years in the post.
The band practices once per week at the Stittsville Legion (although additional rehearsals are called as the band approaches the competition season). In order to accommodate the geographic dispersion of the band’s membership, alternative practice locations have included Kingston, Arnprior and Brighton.
AMPD’s Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, September 24th at 1 p.m. at the Stittsville Legion. Among other topics, we will discuss all options regarding the leadership possibilities for our drummers.
If you wish to lead a dynamic and dedicated group of talented percussion musicians in the Ottawa Valley, and you wish to join a musical organization on the move, please contact Pipe Major Bobbie Smith via email at email@example.com.
All applications are most welcome.”
