#46: Reg Gamble

Reg will forever best be known as the MC for North Lanark (Almonte) Highland Games for over 35 continuous years, the MC for the Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville now for over 28 years, and the MC for the Glengarry Highland Games Friday Night Tattoo for 30 years. He was often introduced as “The Voice of the Highland Games”.

Reg first started playing the tenor drum with the Glengarry Pipe Band in 1965, and he moved on to become Glengarry Highlander’s first ever Drum Major in 1967. Reg eventually tried out and ended up moving on in the pipe band world as a tenor drummer for the RCAF Rockcliffe Pipe Band under Pipe Major Archie Cairns and Lead Drummer John Kerr. Of significance, while Reg was playing with the Rockcliffe band, they took 2nd in the Grade 1 North American Championships at the Glengarry Highland Games, with the drum corps actually placing first.
