The first Knockout contest of 2016 took place yesterday at the HMCS Bytown Naval Officers’ Mess in downtown Ottawa. Players competed in the 40+ and B Division piping events, both of which were judged by Alan Clark.
The night’s B Piping winner, Finley van de Ven
B Division pipers competed for the Major Archie Cairns Cup, awarded annually to the winner of the Slow Air and 6/8 March contest. This year’s winner was Finley van de Ven of Kingston.
After the contest, Ottawa’s Ross Davison provided the audience with what might be the PPBSO Ottawa Branch’s first solo Uilleann pipe recital.
