Bass and Mid-Section Workshop with Kahlil Cappuccino
Tomorrow’s Knockout contest will be preceded that afternoon by a bass and mid-section drumming workshop. We are very happy to be joined this Saturday by Kahlil Cappuccino of the Grade 1 78th Highlanders (Halifax Citadel) Pipe Band. Kahlil will cover some of the following tomorrow:
Mastering the fundamentals – technique, bass-player’s role, care, maintenance, tuning
Creating mindsets and being physically prepared
Playing with dynamics, groove and feel
Playing different idioms (e.g. marches, strathspeys, hornpipes, jigs, reels)
Drummers are asked to bring their drums to this workshop

The evening features the Allan Quinn Memorial Trophy for the “A” Division MSR
We are very happy to be joined by Chris Bell of Kingston to judge our drumming contests, and Andrew Carlisle of Pittsburgh to judge the piping events and give a short recital afterward.
Note: NEW this year, “B” division pipers are asked to submit a “mini-MSR”. Tunes for this event should be 2 parts maximum.
Order of events (starting at 7:00 pm):
Drumming B – Jig
Drumming Group A – Two 6/8s (4 parts)
Piping Group B – Mini-MSR (maximum 2 parts each)
Piping Group A – MSR (minimum 4 parts each)
