2021-22 Ottawa Branch Knockout Series

Contest series for the 2021-22 season. First event on November 27th

The Ottawa Branch Knockouts have been a staple in the region for decades. Due to ongoing complications associated with COVID-19, the first event will be held online, with the format for subsequent contests to be confirmed in the near future depending on the public health situation in Ottawa.

Categories

The series has multiple divisions for pipers and drummers. These divisions generally align with the PPBSO grades as indicated below. Players are encouraged to consult with their teachers or Branch executive members if they are unsure about the grade that aligns best with their skill level:

  • A Division includes solo pipers and drummers with experience that aligns approximately with grades 1 and 2.

  • B Division includes solo pipers and drummers with experience that aligns approximately with grades 3 and 4.

  • C Division includes solo pipers and snare drummers at beginner and Grade 5 levels.

  • 40+ Division includes pipers and snare drummers over 40 years of age, from beginner to intermediate, that would like to begin competing. Competitors in the 40+ category are not eligible to compete in Group A, B or C in addition to the 40+ category. The intention is to allow participants to begin competing against their peers. More experienced players who are over 40 are welcome to compete in the A and B categories if they wish.

We will share the competitors’ names once all videos have been submitted and we will share the results via a special video presentation on October 28th. Stay tuned for more details!
