This afternoon, the Junior Ranks Mess came alive with the at the Amateur Piobaireachd Contest. Some of Scotland’s oldest bagpipe music brought together pipers of all ages, backgrounds and stages of learning. The event was Judged by our very talented panel of judges; Amy Garson and Ed Bush. We would like to thank them for dedicating their time and expertise to the craft and sharing their knowledge with developing pipers.

At this event the highest category is awarded the Pipe Major George D. Buchanan Memorial Trophy. This trophy was donated by Donald Buchanan in memory of his late father, who was a leading member of the Branch in its early days, and a proponent of piobaireachd and its importance for the musical development of pipers.
