Canadian Content Contest and Gearing up for the Finals: February 28th Knockout Contest

On 28th February, we hosted another thrilling edition of our Knockout Contest — an evening that once again showcased the depth of passion within our piping community. Held before the largest audience this series has seen with over 87 of Ottawas local pipe band members and their families in attendance. the 4th evening of this year's Knockout Contest delivered exactly what it promises each year: high-calibre, head-to-head competition, and a celebration of the art of solo piping and drumming

Canadian Content Trophy

The Canadian Content Trophy, presented by the Ottawa Branch, recognizes excellence in the performance of music composed by Canadian pipers. This trophy encourages competitors to include and showcase Canadian-composed pieces in their repertoire. This year we had a wide array of composers from coast to coast showcased along with some local names.

The Breakdown of Canadian Composers are as follows:

Bruce Gandy: 5 tunes - Mrs Sharon Duthart, Annette's Chatter, Ainsley’s Jig, Henningham Reunion, Coppermill Studio

Ann Gray: 2 tunes - Captain Celtic and the Teamsters, Convoy to Oban

Tim Reid: 2 tunes - The Soot Shaker, Calum's Fancy

David Clyde: 1 tune - Wee Robbie

Micheal Grey: 1 tunes -Gordon MacRae’s Favourite,

Matt MacIsaac: 1 tune - Lynn Sutherland

Scott MacAulay: 1 tune - Emily Kate MacLellan

Bob Worrall: 1 tune - Drew James MacIntosh
