REWIND! PPBSO - Ottawa Branch Indoor Contest

Updated: Apr 11

After a 3 year hiatus, the return of the Ottawa Indoor Contest to Kemptville was great success!

Thank you to our whole community for coming out in great numbers. Let us

share some of these numbers.

There were 14 entries from 9 bands and we were lucky enough to have midsection adjudication by Kahlil Cappuccino for bands. For the first time ever we also had a Grade 2 band contest in both both MSR and medley categories.

There were 104 entries overall from 54 solo contestants in 26 solo contest categories. Our largest contest was Junior Piobaireachd judged by Amy Garson with 12 contestants. We also had 3 judges travel out of town; Drew Duthart, Glenna MacKay-Johnstone, and June Hanley.

Last but not certainly not least, we offered a drumming workshop given by Joe Kiah available to all attendees. Joe covered topics from basic drumming technique to anxiety. The classroom was so packed, drummers were listening from the hallway.

Thank you to the 16 volunteers who supported this event from beginning to end.

Also, we thank all 9 judges that made this event possible: (alpha order) Andrea Boyd, Ed Bush, Ross Brown, Kahlil Cappuccino, Drew Duthart, Amy Garson, June Hanley, Glenna MacKay-Johnstone, and Colin MacLellan.

It was wonderful to witness the next generation mingling with the experienced

players.
