Bill Fairlie, 1942 – 2020

The PPBSO Ottawa Branch extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bill Fairlie, who passed away following a short illness on January 4th, 2020.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Bill was a long time piper with the Air Command (later known as RCAF) Pipes and Drums, joining in 1992, and since 2013 had been with the RCMP National Division Pipe Band. In his earlier days he had also been the cadet pipe major with the Essex Scottish. For 25 years Bill was an army chaplain (during which time he earned his jump wings), and for 12 years the Pastoral Victor at Christ Church Cathedral.

Bills’s warm smile and effervescent personality will be greatly missed by everyone in the pipe band community. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family.

The funeral will take place at Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa, 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 11th.

There will be no massed pipe band involved in the service. The family has asked for a small contingent which will be arranged separately.
