Dr. Kenneth ‘Bruce’ MacDonald of Culross Township, passed away tragically in a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the age of 75.
Bruce played with the Guelph Pipe Band and served as pipe sergeant during the band’s early years in the 1970s.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Bruce lived in Ottawa and taught many pipers in the area. He was a member of the CFB Ottawa/Air Command band (now known as the Royal Canadian Air Force Pipes & Drums), and was pipe major of the Grade 2 component of the band for several of those years.
In the 1990s, he rejoined the Guelph Pipe Band and helped rebuild the organization when he took on the role of pipe major. Most recently, Bruce led his hometown Teeswater Pipe Band.
