The first knockout event of 2014 took place on Saturday, January 11, with the “B” division and Over-40 piping events. Both events were judged by Matt MacIsaac, who made it into town despite freezing rain on the Saturday morning. Matt also wrapped up the evening with a recital of highland piping and whistle. An apparent boiler malfunction at the venue made for an uncharacteristically cool room, with many outdoor jackets staying on through the evening, and unexpectedly cold fingers for competitors!
