THE ROYAL NOVA SCOTIA INTERNATIONAL TATTOO
The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo (RNSIT) is seeking Pipers and Drummers to take part in the 2015 Tattoo. This will mark the RNSIT’s 36th anniversary and the show will be celebrating several significant events including the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Europe and the International Gathering of the Clans
In the past the RNSIT has focused on the participation of foreign and domestic pipe bands. This year in addition to bands, the RNSIT would like to welcome interested individuals to participate as well.
Given the nature of the show (the largest of its kind in the world) participants are expected to have a high level of showmanship (smart appearance in drill and uniform turnout) and the ability to competently perform the range of music required for the Tattoo. This includes marches to light dance music (strathspeys, reels, jigs, hornpipes).
The 2015 Tattoo will run from June 30 to July 7 inclusive. Participants will be expected to arrive on June 26 to commence rehearsals on June 27. Departure is on July 8, 2015. Accommodation and meals are provided for personnel from outside Halifax.
Individual participants may wear their own uniform (full dress is preferred but black jacket is the minimum acceptable dress, no shirt-sleeve orders of dress are permitted in the shows) or may participate as a member of The Tattoo Pipes & Drums (The Black Watch Association Atlantic P&D). Uniform for the BWA will be provided for the duration of the Tattoo. Participation in the BWA also makes one eligible for other events this group has been invited to attend (e.g. Hamburg Police Show, Germany).
